There are some things you should change in your config.txt:

Comment:
Code:
#disable_overscan=1

Uncomment:
Code:
framebuffer_width=800
framebuffer_height=480

And you have set two hdmi_modes (=1 and =87). The second one ist the correct one. So delete:
Code:
hdmi_mode=1

Explanation: The hdmi_mode defines the screen resolution. hdmi_mode=1 means 640x350, which is wrong for your screen. hdmi_mode=87 (which means 'undefined resolution') is correct, because 800x480 isn't in the list of predefined resolutions (see the list here). The correct resolution is set via custom hdmi_mode:
Code:
hdmi_cvt=800 480 60 6 0 0 0
The syntax of your hdmi_cvt is wrong, you have to add a '=' between 'hdmi_cvt' and the values.

Therefore this section in your config.txt should look like:
Code:
# uncomment to force a specific HDMI mode (this will force VGA)
hdmi_group=2
hdmi_mode=87
hdmi_cvt=800 480 60 6 0 0 0

So please correct this and do a calibration again.

I have corrected these issues but still no luck.

My next question is, does kodi use the confi.txt settings? when sudo nano is used to view some of the kodi files (for instance)

/home/pi/.kodi/addons/plugin.program.touchCalibration/addon.py

# Background
#self.w = self.getWidth()
#self.h = self.getHeight()
self.w = 1270
self.h = 700
self.background = xbmcgui.ControlImage(0,0,self.w,self.h,self.m$
colorDiffuse = '0xffffffff')
self.addControl(self.background)

self.w = 1270 and
self.h = 700

these are the screen width and hights set by the software. If my screen is 800 x 460 then how can the touch screen be set to 800 x 480 when the software is set to 1270 x 700? I'm also not understanding how kodi is viewable at 800 x 480 it should be off screen like the touch screen is.

have a look at this vid I took of my screen let me know if this can be corrected. i really am at a loss.

Very strange! I watched your movie and am wondering, how this jumping cursor on the right side of the screen can happen. I don't think that this is a software thing. Seems that your screen or more likely the touch-layer of the display is faulty.

The vertical axis still needs some small adjustment of the calib_y_fact. That's no big deal. Also your x-axis could be optimized by doing a small change to your calib_x_fact. But I have no idea what you can do to eliminate this jumping cursor on the right side. I'm quite sure that this is a hardware defect. If it is still in the warranty period, I would send it back to the seller and request a new one.

Regarding your other question: You don't have to change anything in your Kodi files. Your video output will automatically be scaled to the resolution you defined in the config.txt. Your screen looks ok with the Confluence skin. So there's no need to make any changes.

Have you tried this:
calibration-add-on-didn-t-work-for-me-so-t521.html
?

The jump is very likely a touch defect. Mine as a very prominent none linearity in the middle.

I have the Raspberry Pi 7" LCD, and in Raspbian GUI, the touchscreen works great. But when I load Kodi, the axes are swapped. I move my finger up the arrow goes down, Move left and the arrow goes right.

I tried changing the touchscreen_axes_calib and Swap_axes = 1 but that does nothing.

Any suggestions?

Thanks! I had to do it a second time for it to work. (Maybe just rebooting it twice after new Addons.py file)
