Hi all,

I am willing to add one extra feature to my CarPC implementation so I can have a mirror of the phone on the 7" display. For that, I am running VNCserver on my phone, and in carpc I am running xvncviewer.

I can launch my "xvncviewer -display :0 <phone_IP>" correctly from the X11 (with some resolution issues I will correct later). To launch the command from Kodi, I have included the addon "Advanced Launcher".
It actually launches correctly the xvncviewer, as I can see the process running, but I guess it is running behind the KODI GUI, and I can't make to see the xvncviewer window.

How can I bring a window in front of Kodi?
I do not want to implement a whole python script as Andri has done for the navit, but if there is no more options...

Thanks

You can bring navit into windowed mode and then switch application from the desktop, it's manual work but doesn't require fiddling with python. If you were to fiddle with python, it's pretty simple to implement an application-switcher by setting the window-focus with xdotools.
To demonstrate, here's the commands needed to switch between xvncviewer and navit (untested as my windowmanager doesn't allow this, but xfce does, but should work according to the documentation ^.^)
Code:
Switch to Navit:
xdotool search --class navit windowraise

Code:
Switch to XVNCViewer:
xdotool search --class xvncviewer windowraise

Thanks a lot.

I will test it soon and check the python code.
It is much more simple than what I though. I was expecting to need to code a mouse control and other features, as seen with Navit or the Radio plugins .

The mouse-control is already there in the navit-plugin (which you'll most likely use btw) so no need to write it again :)

Basically you add the window-raiser (xdotool) at the start of the navit-plugin, then you copy-paste it and rename it to xvcnviewer (and change whatever relevant lines so it brings up xvncviewer instead) :)
