Hi, i have a little problem that i hope someone can help me with.
I use the FM Radio module in this project and connected as the schema shows.
But I'm not going to have a GPS in my carpc so i got Adafuit RTC clock module.

The problem is that this connects on pin 3 and 5 on my Raspberry PI B+ (it uses i2c)
and this is the same as the radio is connected to. And when i try to set up the clock module in bash with the following code

Code:
echo ds1307 0x68 > /sys/class/i2c-adapter/i2c-1/new_device
the radio stop working.
Im not an expert of this so i hope someone can help me with some solution so i can get a correct time in my project.

Best Regards
Andreas

Hi Andreas, there is a simliar problem with controlling a TDA7318 via i2c.
With your problem in addition it really seems like the radio is blocking the i2c-bus respectively when writing to the bus from another source (like terminal with i2cset) it breaks the i2c connection to the radio.

Maybe it is related to some data that the radio-controller is not-stop reading from the module (like RDS), but i didn't figure it out in the code yet.

Maybe Andrei could help here much faster (as he wrote the radio class).

best regards,
Edi

Ok then i have to contact him, because i need the clock to work, or i have to find some other way if it's not possible to use i2c when the radio is connected.

If you are using a RPi B rev 2 upwards (B+, Model 2) you have a second i2c-Bus on P5. The clock should work there without interrupting the radio.

this second i2C is made to be a EEPROM to connect (in middle right side of this figure, can you read it)

It's safe to use?
